The Operation Outreach Program at Work in Ohio
Operation Outreach President Judy Golden (left) and Connie McKamey,
Executive Director of the Iams Foundation, recently visited the Patterson-Kennedy Elementary School and Jefferson Montessori School in Dayton, Ohio. Both schools are recipients of the OO-USA program, thanks to the P&G Pet Health Division, makers of Iams brand pet foods.
“Helping” them on their visits was a therapy dog, Great Dane “Blue,” who patiently listened while the kids read to him. View a video of this event, produced by Communicore of Dayton, OH, by clicking here.
Also on the itinerary for this trip was the presentation of an award to Operation Outreach by the P&G Live Learn and Thrive program. Click here to learn more.

Goldsboro CDJ Promotes Literacy
Goldsboro Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep is sponsoring a national literacy program at Brogden Middle School. The program, Operation Outreach-USA, provides books for students and lesson plans for the teachers to help integrate the books' themes across the curriculum.
The presentation was made by Goldsboro Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep Dealer Hal Howard (right) in the school gymnasium. Dr. Earl Moore, Principal, and Gloria Burney, Curriculum Specialist, received the materials on behalf of the school's sixth grade students and faculty. This is the fifth year Goldsboro Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep has participated
in the program. Carver Heights Elementary, Dillard Middle, Tommy's Road Elementary and School Street schools were previous recipients. Howard and the dealership donated $1,300 to provide the materials for the entire sixth grade class.
Teachers will use the books' themes and characters to generate discussions about responsibility, respect, determination and citizenship. The books will be used by the sixth graders in classroom instruction and to keep and take home to build personal libraries. Accelerated Reader quizzes to the books are also included to
help schools assess their students' comprehension and retention.
Chrysler dealers nationwide support Operation Outreach-USA. "To achieve success you must stay in school and learn to read," Howard told the students. "Reading is the gateway to
