Each of us will experience events in our lives that are sad. Ask the students to explore ways to overcome sadness. If they have experienced a sad event, how did they deal with the experience? Did anyone help them?
In Goodbye, Jake, Cole and his entire family felt sad about Jake’s death. Discuss how the Memory Garden helped them with their sadness. Do the student’s think this is a good idea? Why or why not?
